This wonderful church once belonged to the Dominican order. The Gothic interior hosts numerous important sculptures and paintings, including “The Baptism of Christ”, a masterpiece by Giovanni Bellini, Andrea Palladio’s Valmarana Chapel, and works by Bartolomeo Montagna, Paolo Veronese and Giambattista Pittoni. The 15th century wooden choir is particularly worthy of note.
Olympic Theatre (Teatro Olimpico) | A short walk away from the apartment
Inaugurated on 3 March 1585, the Theatre represents the pinnacle of Andrea Palladio’s creativity. The oldest indoor theatre in the world, it was inspired by the ancient theatres of Greece and Rome. Worthy of note is Vincenzo Scamozzi’s perspective scenery depicting the streets of Thebes. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, the theatre continues to hold performances and concerts to this day.

The double loggia and the roof shaped like an upside down ship hull, both designed by Andrea Palladio, are of outstanding beauty. On the first floor stands the Great Council Hall, measuring 52m in length and 25m in height at the highest point of the vault. The rooftop terrace offers breath-taking views of the centre of Vicenza.
